Mercedes-Benz and the MICHELIN Guide are teaming up to create a new series of places to eat, A Taste of the Future, which celebrates the union of culture and innovation in the culinary arts and engineering.
In the meal series, chefs from MICHELIN-starred restaurants will collaborate with emerging Canadian cuisine to create menus fostered through themes of technology, aesthetics and sustainability.
A Taste of the Future began in Toronto and will soon be presented in Vancouver and Montreal.

Offering Innovative Collaborations with Emerging and Esteemed Canadian Chefs
Mercedes-Benz presented A Taste of the Future at the FRILU restaurant in Toronto, the only place to eat in Canada to hold a MICHELIN Star for culinary excellence and a MICHELIN Green Star for sustainable practices. The occasion was also a collaboration between FRILLU Executive Chef John-Vincent Troiano and emerging chefs Joel Gray and Hannah Harradine, co-founders of Down Home, a farm-to-table dining spot in Grey County, Ontario that celebrates sustainable agriculture. and production practices, and uses collaborative tasting menus to tell the stories of local farmers and producers.

The result of this collaboration was a delicious multi-course tasting menu that employs local ingredients to create dishes powered by Mercedes-Benz and its sumptuous electric vehicles. For example, Chef Troiano’s dish “Land, Sea and Air” featured ingredients that represented each and every one of the points. This three-pointed star began as a goal and today reflects the brand’s environmental focus and sustainable business practices. Guests were also able to enjoy transportation to and from the occasion in sumptuous, technologically complex electric vehicles. adding the EQB 350 SUV, EQE 350 SUV, EQS 580 SUV, EQS 580 sedan, and AMG EQS sedan.
A Taste of the Future Continues in Vancouver and Montreal
The A Taste of the Future food series will continue this spring with stops in Vancouver and Montreal. J-C Poirier, executive chef of the MICHELIN-starred St. Lawrence in Vancouver, will collaborate with emerging culinary talent, Chef Simon Mathys of Le Mastard in Montreal. The duo will create exclusive menus based on their avant-garde approaches to French and Quebecois cuisine fostered through technology, aesthetics and sustainability – the key themes that mark Mercedes-Benz’s long history of automotive excellence.
With this meal series, Mercedes-Benz continues its commitment to celebrating emerging Canadian culinary talent. The relationship between Mercedes-Benz and the MICHELIN Guide began at the end of 2023, when Mercedes-Benz presented the MICHELIN Young Chef Award at the MICHELIN Guide ceremonies. The MICHELIN Young Chef Award recognises emerging talent who consistently demonstrate culinary innovation. In 2023, the winners were David Schwartz of Toronto’s Sunnys Chinese and Warren Chow of Vancouver’s Wildlight Kitchen Bar.
