“We applaud Mercedes-Benz’s ambitious leadership in subscribing to The Climate Pledge and commit to ambitious action to combat climate change. We want continuous innovation and ownership of automotive brand components such as Mercedes-Benz to de-automobilebon the shipping sector and combat the climate. crisis,” said Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon. “Amazon is adding 1,800 Mercedes-Benz electric delivery cars as a component of our adventure to build the world’s most sustainable transportation fleet, and we’ll temporarily move to get those vans back on the road this year.”
“At Mercedes-Benz, we have set ourselves the ambitious purpose of making the transformation of mobility a success. By joining The Climate Pledge, we are building our goal to consistently pursue emissions-free mobility and sustainable vehicle production,” said Ola Kollenius, chairman of the board of directors of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG. “We, Amazon, Global Optimism and the other signatories to The Climate Pledge, in a commitment to be carbon net until 2040, ten years before the Paris Agreement. I am pleased that we can gain even more momentum in our sustainable progression offensive with this step.”
As a component of Mercedes-Benz’s commitment as a new signatory to The Climate Pledge, the company is doubling its commitment to Ambition2039, a roadmap for CO2-emission-free mobility. The company is comparing tactics to eliminate the car bonus from its entire price chain, from the progression to the supplier network, from its own production to the electrification of the product and beyond, as well as to generate some renewable energy for the electric vehicle use phase. In order to have a fleet of new co2-neutral cars in less than 20 years, Mercedes-Benz is making a vital contribution to curbing climate change. The company is already making smart progress in this direction: until the end of this year, the vehicle portfolio will come with five all-electric models and more than 20 plug-in hybrids. The signatories of The Climate Pledge also have the opportunity to gain percentage access to the most productive technologies, practices and inventions in the source chain. They can also co-invest in new technologies and emerging solutions.
Spouses of Amazon’s delivery service will have access to the new fleet of zero-emission cars to deliver to consumers in Europe this year, saving thousands of tons of carbon. This order is a vital milestone for Mercedes-Benz Vans, marks the largest electric vehicle order for the manufacturer to date and makes Amazon your largest sustainable transportation spouse in the world. More than 1,200 electric cars in the order will come with the all-new electric advertising van that will be held in Mercedes-Benz: the eSprinter, a style larger than the manufacturer’s first zero-emission vehicle, the eVito. The eSprinter comes with protection features, adding an electric parking brake, active braking assistance, a rear view camera, blind spot assist and more. The remaining six hundred cars will consist of the manufacturer’s medium-sized electric van, the eVito, to allow delivery service spouses operating in geographic spaces that require a smaller vehicle to access an emission-free delivery option.
“I am very pleased that we are further stepping up our long-standing partnership with Amazon and working in combination in the long term of electric battery transport,” said Marcus Breitschwerdt, director of Mercedes-Benz Vans.”With the eVito and the eSprinter, we count in our portfolio of electric cars, which are perfectly adapted to the needs of the courier industry, explicit and parcel for the delivery of goods in the so-called ‘last mile’ in terms of their device and autonomy.Free local driving, attractive performance, convenience and low operating prices can be perfectly combined.”
