Supercar manufacturer and F1 racing icon McLaren is looking to expand its visitor base with a new lineup of four electrified mountain bikes, known as eMTBs. Like McLaren’s exotic cars, the e-bikes will be limited production, custom-made and expensive. Prices start at $7,950 and go up to $11,950.
The lineup will come with 4 models in total, with two ‘Extreme’ full suspension offerings and a pair of ‘Sport’ hardtail features with front suspension. McLaren did not specify whether the costs included shipping costs, but said the motorcycles would be shipped to consumers who requested them.
Each bike’s handlebar region is unique, with carbon fiber bars that get bigger inward to come with a bright 1,550-lumens dual-element LED headlight and a giant automotive-style display demonstrating speed, power, battery level, and other metrics.
McLaren does not directly specify the weight of motorcycles, but instead provides a “power-to-weight” ratio more commonly used to quantify the functions of a racing vehicle. For example, the power-to-weight ratio of the Extreme Six Hundred is 69 watts per kilogram (69 W: 1 kg). It’s not entirely clear how this corresponds to inconsistent weights.
