Sydney, Mexico (AP) — McLaren’s rookie driving force Oscar Piastri said on Sunday he believes he can beat new teammate Lando Norris in his first season in Formula 1, but admitted he is in for a steep learning curve.
The 21-year-old, considered one of the sport’s young talents, will retire in control of Bahrain this month after replacing fellow Australian Daniel Ricciardo, who returned to Red Bull as a reserve driver.
Piastri said he was confident in his ability to compete with Britain’s Norris, but he was also realistic about expectations.
