McLaren to build £41 million shopping centre in Essex

McLaren Construction has signed a £41 million deal to build an excellent commercial in Essex.

The contractor will expand Centurion Park for the Tungsten Properties business expansion, which consists of 10 buildings and covers more than 33,000 square meters of warehouse and related space.

McLaren will also build a roundabout and road to the site from the A120.

The task is expected to be completed in October this year and has been designed to the BREEAM Excellent standard. The site will also have zero carbon emissions during the structure period, McLaren said, and the contractor is aiming to earn an A score for the site’s Energy Performance Certificate. (EPC).

David Gavin, McLaren’s managing director of industry and logistics in the London and South regions, said: “We will use our extensive progression experience in industry and supply chain relationships to build this masterplan project.

“As our first appointment at Tungsten Properties, we look forward to demonstrating our agile approach, which will reap advantages in the delivery of Centurion Park. “

McLaren said the commercial sector was one of the reasons it beat its 2022/23 monetary forecast. CEO Paul Heather also highlighted the company’s “expertise” in sectors such as production as the basis for its entry into the life sciences sector.

Despite the increase in commercial projects in years, the British Steel Building Association predicted last month that demand for those projects is expected to decline over the next two years.

But BCSA lead executive David Moore predicted that the popularity of online retail and the trend of returning to post-pandemic will eventually stabilize demand for sheds and commercial buildings.
