McLaren Construction has scooped a bumper project to redevelop a famous central London location.
The firm landed the £60m job this week, to develop 5,400 square metres of retail and office space on the corner of New Bond Street and Grafton Street, at the centre of London’s high-value West End retail district.
There will be five lands with an additional basement of 3 land. The ground and the lower soil will be used for retail trade, while the five previous land will be offices and events.

The contractor said its method of casting the central section of the ground floor slab first will allow it to build the cores while excavating down to build the basement, saving time and money. It is also using “just-in-time deliveries” of materials so that it can cope with limited space for material storage. It has also developed a temporary ramp so that the piling rig and crawler crane can operate on site, again saving space.
In addition, it is using steel plunge columns and piling to support the cores and ground floor slab, which will allow it to build the basement box and cores simultaneously.
Darren Gill, managing director of McLaren Construction for London and the South, said that the company already had “considerable experience” of construction in high traffic parts of the capital, and well suitable for the project.
“We know through an abundant delight of running in the Oxford Street region that this technical feat [using metal stacking columns and stacking] will be eliminated from a tight site surrounded by many activities,” he said.
“The occupants and passersby will see a new intelligent addition to West End realize how exactly you want to plan and design. “
The allocation is the first phase of a two -phase allocation to reorganize the area. According to the documents of the plans, the phase will come with two new buildings directed at the hotel and the residential areas.
The two buildings will be physically linked, with the first to measure seven stories with a three-story basement. It will come with a spa and a flexible area for the hotel, which will occupy the maximum of the moment in the 12-story building. It also comes with a residential area.
A boutique indexed through Grade II in the past belonging to Wartski Jewelers on Grafton Street will be retained as a component of a later phase.
