(CBS DETROIT) — McLaren Health Care showed Wednesday that a criminal cyberattack disrupted data generation and phone systems, it said Tuesday.
Officials say it’s unclear whether the patient’s or worker’s knowledge was compromised. The IT team is collaborating with security experts to investigate the cyberattack.
“Currently, our facilities are largely operational and able to care about our communities and will continue to do so until operations are fully restored. Our emergency departments remain operational, the maximum number of surgeries and procedures continue to be performed, and our physician offices continue to function. see as many patients as possible,” officials said in Wednesday’s update. “During this era of limited access to our systems, and out of an abundance of caution, some appointments, tests and non-urgent remedies are being postponed. “
On Tuesday, the formula reported disruptions to formulas, saying some non-urgent or elective procedures would possibly be postponed “out of an abundance of caution. ”
Patients at the 13 hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, doctors’ offices and other formula service centers (adding the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute) were asked not to come in for their appointments while treating the problem, unless they were contacted through an employee.
McLaren says it implemented procedures at the center after learning of the attack. Officials say they continue to work under downtime procedures as they race to repair systems.
This is the main technological disruption that McLaren has faced in the last year. In 2023, McLaren Health Care said that an investigation into suspicious activity discovered on its network had revealed a ransomware attack.
