McLaren and Arlington to expand York Central site

McLaren Property and Arlington Real Estate have been chosen as strategic developers of the York Central project.

The brownfield is one of the largest urban centre regeneration projects in the UK.

John Sisk & Son is already onsite carrying out £135m of infrastructure works including 3km of new roads, footpaths, cycleways and two new bridges over the East Coast Main Line.

McLaren Property and Arlington Real Estate will oversee the transformation of underutilized rail land into colorful and unique residential neighborhoods, cultural spaces, public spaces, and advertising districts.

Robin Dobson, Network Rail group real estate director, said: “This is a strategic step to regenerate over 110 acres of underutilized rail land to deliver significant and social investment for the city and region.

“York Central puts the infrastructure at the heart of a new residential and cultural district. The allocation demonstrates the central role that Network Rail Property can play in unlocking sites for growth, jobs and housing.

York Central is a 45-acre site, that will deliver up to 2,500 homes, 20% of which will be affordable and create up to 1 million sq ft of commercial space for offices, retail and leisure.
