The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will call a seat at Wankhede Stadium after MS Dhoni.
Ajinkya Naik, a member of the Apex Council, showed up at the seat where the six MS Dhoni World Cup winners landed and gave it his name.
Excerpts from the letter containing the proposal were published through The Indian Express.
The letter said that the seat resolution after the Chennai Super Kings patron would be an act of gratitude for his contribution to Indian cricket.
Naik’s letter read:
The letter also proposed to keep the ball that had been used in the World Cup final in a museum planned through the MCA.
The MCA Apex Council will discuss this factor in an assembly scheduled for today.

We have noticed many cases where stadium stands are named after former players.
However, if the proposal is accepted and the venue of Wankhede Stadium is named after MS Dhoni, it will be the first time in India where a seat will be named after a player.
However, the concept is not new in other countries. A seat of the MCG Great Southern Stand painted yellow to honor Simon O’Donnell’s 122-meter six for Victoria over New South Wales.
A third-level seat is painted red at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium to honor the six-96-metre coup through Brad Hodge in his latest attack on Melbourne Renegade.
Eden Park in Auckland also has a seat named after Grant Elliot. The six winners of the 2015 World Cup semi-finals, through Grant Elliot, had landed there.
MS Dhoni sealed India’s World Cup victory with a six at Nuwan Kulasekara’s iconic bowling alley. It would be an appropriate tribute if the position where the balloon landed was discovered and the seat is named after the 39-year-old man to commemorate the occasion.
