The Maserati GranCabrio is the kind of car that stops you in your tracks. This is the convertible edition of the equally surprising GranTurismo coupe. It is a sports car made entirely in Italy, available in the Trofeo edition with a 3. 0 engine. One-litre twin-turbo V6 that develops 550 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3. 6 seconds.
What’s interesting is that GranCabrio will also be available in a Folgore edition, Maserati’s designation for its electric cars. An exact date hasn’t been specified, but, when it does, it could be the first two all-electric. Two-seater convertible from a major automaker.
Speaking of speed, the GranCabriolet’s cloth roof can be lowered in just 14 seconds, even at speeds of up to 50 km/h (31 mph). While this doesn’t imply how temporarily you can put it back, you can rest assured that it should be covered up before that stunning red leather interior gets more than a few rain stains.
Maserati’s first Spyder (soft-top convertible) edition of its sports car was introduced in 1959 and has remained one of the highlights of diversity ever since. So it’s no surprise that it’s the third style in diversity to get an all-electric. edition (after the GranTurismo Folgore and the Grecale).
Although it’s a two-door car, it still offers 4 sumptuous seats and comes with a neck warmer as standard. You can also add an optional windbreaker in either front seat to reduce turbulence in the cabin when you don’t have rear passengers.
The petrol Trofeo edition can be ordered now in the UK, priced at around £170,000. Pricing and availability for the Folgore will be announced at a later date.
