Maserati deployed his first supercar in 15 years. Developed through the Maserati Innovation Laboratory for more than two years, the MC20 has evolved since the famous MC12, which ceased production in 2010, and marks the return of the venerable Italian manufacturer to racing.
“We put the cornerstone of Maserati’s future structure,” said Davide Grasso, Maserati’s chief operating officer, on one occasion that revealed the new style in Modena, Italy. “The MC20 is the embodiment of our values, the first of its kind one hundred percent made in Modena. MC20 is the style that marks the beginning of our new era. “
The long-awaited MC20 comes with maserati’s first in-house engine in more than two decades. The Nettuno (or Neptune) is a 3-litre twin-engine V6 with an F1-inspired pre-combustion chamber and a double – Sail Configuration. It produces 621 horsepower, can go from 0 to 60 mph in 2. 9 seconds and has a more sensitive speed of 202 mph.
Built around a lightweight carbon fiber monocoque tank (weighing around 3330 pounds), the MC20 comes in a coupe, but will also be considered a convertible and electric model. Yetterfly doors (with recessed handles) are not only more ergonomic but also allow less difficult access to the cab.
The MC20 has blank lines and has no cell appendages. The front features a wide mesh grille (showing the large pitchfork badge) and led angle headlights integrated into the front fins to increase aerodynamics.
From the rear, the MC20 has wide hips with a double exhaust formula on a giant diffuser. There is also a modest flap for support, LED taillights and a rear bezel with pitchforte pattern.
Inside the MC20 cab, the driver has two 10-inch displays, one for the cab and one for the multimedia formula, and the console has been simplified with a minimum of buttons and distractions. There are 4 driving modes (Wet, GT, Sport and Corsa), as well as a 5 shutdown mode. ESC. The guide wheel is also made of carbon fiber and, of course, the Maserati pedal formula puts the global at your feet.
The MC20 will be available for pre-orders on September 10 and is expected to enter production until the end of this year; however, the car is not expected to launch in the United States until the fall of 2021.
