While the public anticipates Maserati’s upcoming Grecale and GranTurismo Folgore BEVs, the Italian luxury automaker strives to paint a third all-electric style: the GranCabrio. Maserati shared several photographs of this all-electric convertible prototype ahead of its official launch next year. Control.
Maserati S. p. A. es an Italian automaker that has existed since World War I, but lately operates under the umbrella of Stellantis. At an event in 2020, Maserati unveiled a new electrified car logo “Folgore” that would be implemented until 2025.
Maserati’s definition of “electrified” originally meant hybrid and all-electric vehicles, however, the Italian automaker turned to Stellantis’ renewed electrification strategy and said it will offer a BEV edition of its models until 2025.
Maserati unveiled its BEV commitment last March by introducing two models arriving in 2023: the Grecale Folgore SUV and the GranTurismo Folgore. The automaker rushed to show off the Grecale Folgore in the spring, followed by video footage of the electric GranTurismo Folgore last September.
While logo enthusiasts await the arrival of those first two electric cars in 2023, Maserati has begun to show off its third style: the GranCabrio convertible. These are some of the first public photographs of the prototype.
Maserati hasn’t shared much else about the GranCabrio aside from the prototype photographs mentioned above, however, its most recent press release includes a few more photographs in addition to minor main points about the progression of this all-electric convertible.
According to Maserati, the GranCabrio prototypes have entered the early stages of progression and testing on the streets of Modena in northern Italy. The automaker explained that extensive testing of those prototypes refers to driving on roads, tracks and other operating conditions.
Maserati’s purpose in testing GranCabrio prototypes is to gather as much critical knowledge as possible to optimize the fine tuning of the BEV before moving into production. Speaking of which, Maserati shared that the official launch of the GranCabrio is scheduled for someday in 2023.
We are sure to receive more information next year, as we will first make room for the Folgore versions of La Grecale and GrandTurismo. More main points will emerge.
