Maserati unveiled a new generation of its previous Granturismo in October, and now the taste of the car’s convertible frame has been seen as a prototype.
The new Granturismo convertible, known as Grancabrio in some markets, is presented for launch in 2023, meaning it is expected to arrive in dealerships as a 2024 model. The coupe will be presented next spring, also as a 2024 model.
The prototype becomes the convertible with a comfortable hood, just like its predecessor. The profile of the roof and the shape of the side windows look almost like the previous model.
Like the coupe, the convertible will be presented in Modena, Trofeo and Folgore versions. Modena is the ultimate sumptuous and lifestyle-oriented option, while the Trophy caters to athletes. The Folgore is an electric option, the call taken from the Italian word for “lightning”.

In the coupe, the Modena and Trofeo versions are supplied with Maserati’s 3. 0-litre twin-turbo V6 shared with the MC20 supercar, but with less power and dry sump lubrication system. The V6 designed through Maserati develops 490 hp in the Modena and 550 hp in the Trophy. In either case, the car will have an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
The Folgore comes with a three-engine powertrain (one at the front and two at the rear) that generates a combination of 760 hp, as well as all-wheel drive. The motors are powered by a 92. 5kWh battery that Maserati says will offer a competitive range. Expect an estimated figure through the EPA between 250 and 300 miles. An 800-volt architecture means high-speed charging will be possible.
The new convertible Granturismo is expected to have the same specifications.
With the arrival of the new convertible Granturismo, Maserati will have two convertible models in its range. The MC20 Cielo, which comes with a retractable glass roof.
