After a series of teasers, Maserati unveiled the design of its new GranTurismo earlier this month. And on Monday, the Italian automaker opened the floodgates, revealing almost every detail about the Modena and Trophy, adding the specifications of its twin-turbo V6. engine. The automaker also detailed the inner workings of the GranTurismo Folgore, the first all-electric vehicle in the brand’s history.
We have already noticed the new external design of GranTurismo, which combines the familiar features of the Pininfarina silhouette of the last generation. The GT is now 3 inches longer at 195. 2 inches total, its 115. 3-inch wheelbase is strangely an inch shorter than the previous car. There are another 2 inches wide (77 inches) and the height of the coupe does not change by 53. 3 inches.
At the front there is a new fairing with main details inspired by the brand’s MC20 halo car. There’s a soft new signature of hours of sunlight and full LED lighting for heads and tails. The GranTurismo design features very few panel lines (and hides many of the few at or below the waistline), giving the coupe a more solid and sculpted appearance.
The arches are filled with compensated wheels and wheels with larger 21-inch wheels and 295/30ZR21 rubber on the rear axle and 20s with 265/30ZR20 wheels on the front. Maserati has yet to announce the tire compounds it will use for the Modena and Trofeo, even given the specifications of each, we expect sticky and sporty.
Granturismo’s 3. 0-liter Nettuno twin-turbo V6 engine is also borrowed from the MC20. In the Modena specification, it produces about 483 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. Standard equipment includes an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Modena’s most sensitive speed is indicated at 188 mph, while acceleration to 62 mph is estimated at 3. 9 seconds with release control.
This edition of the Nettuno uses rain sump lubrication, instead of the MC20’s more exotic dry sump, and features a cylinder deactivation generation that can transition to consistent three-cylinder operation under certain smooth load conditions. Dual fuel injection and two cylinder-compatible spark plugs ensures a more complete and effective combustion. The engine is also located low and more at the rear in the engine compartment for greater weight balance, contributing to the GT’s 52:48 front-rear weight distribution.
The coupe is powered by the popular air suspension that can automatically slow down to decrease drag (or in Corsa race mode to increase downforce), which works in conjunction with the active grille fins for aerodynamic efficiency. In addition to Corsa mode, GranTurismo provides default Comfort, Sport and GT settings. The modes are selected via a lever on the new guide wheel, which also incorporates the start/stop button on its central axis.
The Trofeo specification features the same engine and transmission as the Modena, but with more power. Power increases to 542 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. The most sensitive speed goes up to 310 km/h, while the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is reduced to 3. 5 seconds.
In addition to the additional ponies, the Trophy features lighter forged wheels, carbon fiber accents on the frame and interior, adding all-carbon skirts, and gloss black accents that replace Modena’s glossy chrome.
Inside, the GranTurismo offers a new Android-based Maserati Intelligent Assistant infotainment suite. Surrounding the driver’s seat is a trio of displays, which add a 12. 3-inch virtual tool cluster, a corresponding 12. 3-inch main infotainment screen, and a smaller 8-inch display. Secondary touchscreen below for weather and other commonly available vehicle purposes. The software can be updated wirelessly, and Maserati promises that the software will evolve with new features and innovations over time. There is also a small circular OLED clock in the most sensitive part of the dashboard that can be custom designed with other faces, smarter surveillance purposes or functional data monitoring. A virtual mirror and configurable head-up showcase the GT’s entire model range.
Users can interact with the formula, new command, and voice popularity of the keyword “Hey, Maserati. “The generation also incorporates a Maserati Connect knowledge connection for telematics, an Alexa in-car assistant, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Tidal app integration, and more. Of course, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity is standard, which is kind of a norm for the course on those days.
Meanwhile, the GT launches the new Maserati Active Driving Assist. This generation of Level 2 Motive Force Assist will likely incorporate familiar features like adaptive cruising and launches new technologies like Active Lane Assist and Emergency Lane-Keeping. Users can get a glimpse into a new dynamic. view of the road that creates a 3D representation of the road and the cars around it, but maybe just keep the attractions on the actual road off the windshield. There are also new opposite emergency braking technologies and panoramic cameras to help with parking. security.
The GranTurismo cabin looks fantastic (I’m still not allowed to show you photos) and also deserves wonderful sound when supplied with the 19-speaker Sonus 3-D audio formula with up to 1,195 watts of amplification.
Maserati has yet announced pricing or express availability for the new GranTurismo Modena, Trofeo and all-electric Folgore. We look forward to hearing more, and will keep you posted, before the trio hit the road in early 2023.
