Maserati has brought forward its plan towards an all-electric logo over the course of two years.
On Monday, Maserati announced that its range will offer an electric edition of all its cars until 2028. The automaker also said it would possibly phase out its gasoline-powered cars over the next few years, until 2028. This is two years ahead of schedule.
Maserati CEO Davide Grasso told Motor Authority that the automaker would be in a position to phase out sales of gasoline-powered cars until 2028, but that will depend on markets. The executive noted that some markets are moving at other speeds with adoption. of electric cars through consumers. The automaker will offer the choice between gasoline and electric cars, regardless of the schedule that suits you.
Maserati is known for its V-8 soundtrack, but the engine will be dead at the Italian automaker this year. By the end of 2025, each and every Maserati will either be electric or offer an electric powertrain option.
The first electric models, known as Folgores in Maserati parlance, are the Grecale Folgore crossover SUV and the GranTurismo Folgore. An electric convertible in the shape of the GranCabrio Folgore would make its debut and mark the era of electric convertibles. The MC20 supercar, known as the MC20 Folgore, will debut in 2025. A Maserati spokesperson said a Levante Folgore electric SUV would stick with a 2026 debut, with the range being finished with the debut of the Quattroporte Folgore in 2028.
Maserati has created two other platforms for its existing power line. The Grecale is based on a committed BEV architecture, while the GranTurismo Folgore (and later the GranCabrio Folgore) is based on modified ICE platforms with a T-shaped battery. The automaker also has to compromise BEV platforms evolved through the parent company, Stellantis, known as STLA.
