Manheim oversteer auction for safe visits to COVID-19 used cars

Manheim has shown that its auction sites will reopen for COVID insurance used car tours starting Monday, September 14.

Cox Automotive’s physical remarketing department will accept attractive quotes from merchants site by site as it re-operates completely since May due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Visiting appointments must be made the day before the vehicle’s sales date, or on the morning of a nightly sale, and must be booked directly at the relevant auction center.

However, Manheim said it will also continue to exempt its online acquisition fees, as well as provide loose vehicle collections and QuickList photographs of its auction acquisitions.

Liam Quegan, managing director of Manheim Auction Services, said: “When our auction program restarted in June, we expanded our offering to help increase broker returns.

“It is vital that we keep this and adapt the package to changing circumstances.

“Buyers have adapted incredibly well to online sales, but we know that some will appreciate the opportunity to see stocks in person, so we have redesigned our processes so that this is done safely and in a controlled manner.

“We believe the right thing to do is to waive our same simultaneous streaming customer rates and continue to make it less difficult for our consumers to buy shares online and accelerate the speed with which they can put them up for sale. “

Shoreham Vehicle Auctions (SVA) welcomed physical buyers to socially distance auction rooms a fortnight after their locations restricted the transmission of COVID-19.

In June, Aston Barclay announced that several car dealerships would be allowed to see cars on their auction sites, prior to sales, by appointment only.

However, it stated at the time that, despite the amended policies, its auction program would continue in its purely online format.

Last month, Aston Barclay Group’s leading executive, Martin Potter, told AM that some of the company’s fleet and OEM auctions may remain virtual, driven by good closing luck.
