Maharashtra Police Perform Road Maintenance in Cyrus Mistry’s Car Crash

Police in Palghar, Maharashtra, made arrangements at the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway site where former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry was killed in a twist of fate on the road in September this year, a senior police official said today.

In the three months since the accident, modifications and maintenance have been carried out on the section of the Charote Bridge for the protection of motorists and residents, Superintendent of Police (SP) Palghar Balasaheb Patil told PTI.

“Previously, we had to have ambulances in 4 other positions on the road so that other injured people could be rushed to hospitals. Other than that, we changed the three-lane segment [as approaching the bridge] to a two-lane segment. See one and place the symptoms [warning symptoms] on the speed limit,” the official said.

“We have placed sound strips at the speed of vehicles, new eyeliners and turn signals have been placed and potholes in the road have been repaired,” Patil said, adding that many more corrective measures are likely to be taken in the coming days.

Mr. Mistry (54) and his friend Jahangir Pandole were killed after the vehicle in which they were travelling crashed into the railing of the Charote bridge on 4 September.

Gynecologist Anahita Pandole (55), who was driving, and her husband Dario were seriously injured.
