IMLAY CITY — Law enforcement, EMS and firefighters continue to be busy responding to accidents along M-53/S. Cedar Street between Newark Road. north to the railway viaduct.
The most recent incident, which occurred last week, involved two drivers from Imlay City, as well as a 17-year-old boy.
According to the Imlay City Police Department, officers responded to the intersection of Newark and M-53 after receiving a report of a two-vehicle collision on August 1.
Officers said a 2006 Jeep Liberty, driven by a 17-year-old Imlay City woman, was traveling north on M-53 and came to the red light at Newark Rd.
The second vehicle, a 2005 Dodge Dakota, ran into a 57-year-old man also from the city of Imlay, who was heading south on the M-53.
Officers say the man was traveling south on Cedar Street, “through the intersection of Newark Road. ” Driver 1 (the woman) is traveling north on Cedar Street and Newark Road in the left turn lane. Driver 1 turned left onto westbound Newark Road and failed to yield to oncoming traffic.
The pickup made contact with the right rear of the teen’s car, causing what police said was “functional damage” to both vehicles.
