Birmingham City Council approved the rezoning of commercial land next to the park to recreational land.

The new assignment will consist of condominium homes, but it may not look like any condo you have visited. They will come with an interior area for vehicles.
The 105-unit facility will be on Rex Lake Road.
The high-end garages will each be around 1,200 square feet, enough area for those with a keen interest in cars to be in a safe position to buy and display their cars and enjoy some off-track amenities.
Members of Birmingham City Council see it as a complement to the racecourse.
“I think it’s going to work well and it’s exciting for us as well because the city of Birmingham has invested a lot in opening up these assets and preparing them for progression and, as far as I know, this will be the first progression. on site,” said Councilmember Darrell O’Quinn.
One fear that arose at the beginning of the discussion was that those condominiums were owned and not rented. It is also forbidden to convert them into short-term rentals.
“As car enthusiasts invest huge sums of money to put their vehicles in those facilities, we don’t need a huge turnover of tenants and will leave other people safe,” said developer Ray Roll.
The automotive condominiums will be built in two phases: the first will come with 51 units, now there will be 54 units.
