Lotus dives into his extensive archives so owners can hint at the history of his car. You have introduced a global program called a certificate of origin that provides old data about an express car.
Available from Lotus authorized brokers, the certificate of origin includes important points such as the car’s VIN and its original color. It also points to the date the car left the meeting line in Hethel, England, and the date it entered the company’s network of brokers. The main specifications, engine addition, transmission and other loading characteristics ordered through the original owner, are published in a traditional structure specification letter.
Owners applying for the certificate will also get a letter from Lotus CEO Phil Popham committing to the adjustments being made to the company and how it prepares for the future. Summarizing the scenario in a letter will probably be less difficult to say than done, as Lotus (now controlled through Geely) undergoes a complete transformation that includes a primary expansion of its products and a renewed focus on the U.S. market. He called the Evija, his first electric model, a pioneer whose generation will permeate other battery cars.

In addition to the above documents, enthusiasts who apply for a certificate of origin will also get an aluminum plate engraved with the owner’s name, a leather keychain, a carbon fiber marker and a Lotus pen. The value starts at $170 plus shipping costs in the UK, which is approximately $225. And any Lotus owner can order it, whether they have an Elite 1959 or an Evora GT 2020.
The first Lotus-certified car is a 1981 Turbo Spirit (pictured) that stands out as the last corporate car ordered through corporate founder Colin Chapman. With the UVF registration number 464X, it remained owned by Chapman until his death in 1982, and was sold to a personal customer the following year. Lotus recently purchased it with a 11,000-mile mileage meter and plans to repair it before adding it to its heritage collection.
Chapman did not settle for a regularly produced Turbo Spirit. He ordered his car with forced guidance (which was not available in the Spirit at the time), a lower suspension and a brake change. He also ordered BBS wheels.
