Revealing prototypes of electric hypercars is fine, however, it can be said that a more reliable marker of the manufacturer’s fitness is when it starts to interact in the incredibly beloved business of building new constructions. Now Lotus doesn’t go with its new site, the Norwich plant used to space out to a boiler manufacturer, but confirmation that it will turn the existing design into a new high-tech undervaluation facility by 2021 is the next most productive thing.
Clearly, the resolution is partly a matter of consolidation: Lotus needs to consolidate its steel and soft structures under one roof (the former is already located elsewhere in Norwich; the second, inconvenient, is founded in Worcester). But greater investment in the larger plant also leads to expansion; Lotus plans to create up to 75 new jobs in addition to those that will move from existing plants.
David Hewitt, Chief Operating Officer, Lotus Cars said: “By bringing together aluminum chassis production activities and metal subsets in a plant, we can increase the power and productivity of Lotus production. Being located near Lotus headquarters in Hethel, Norfolk, where all Lotus cars are assembled, will also get advantages for the company as we grow more in the future.”
Specifically, the new site will be to blame for the manufacture of extruded and glued aluminum chassis that underlie Evora, Exige and Elise (in addition to the manufacture of aluminum tips for other automakers) and the manufacture of frames and suspension parts with other metal welds. Array In addition, Lotus says it will take the opportunity to “expand machines and equipment to bring new Lotus sports cars to market in the coming years.” Music for our ears.
Lotus also has music for your eyes, courtesy of “The Spy Who Loved Me,” which premiered 43 years ago this week. Hethel is proudly proud of his participation in the 1977 Bond saga, not only for the apparent benefits of Spirit’s legendary appearance in the film, but also for the way PUBLIC relations chief McLauchlan conceived his lead role (station an unmarked prototype versus Pinewood Studios for all executives to see). To mark the occasion, Lotus skillfully parked the next Evija next to an S1 in the white specification ‘007’. A little less vital than a new factory. But prettier.
