The global pandemic would probably have stopped the new Hummer, but it won’t prevent it. And if the long-awaited vehicle isn’t in a position to do its deyet yet, it will be in a few months.

General Motors Truck Company (GMC) showed in a press release Tuesday that its electric van and SUV will, however, make their debut this fall. The automaker also revealed that cars are expected to go into production until the end of 2021, suggesting that the new Hummer will reach dealerships soon after.

After mocking the rebooted Hummer in an ad showing Lebron James at the Super Bowl, GMC was making plans to give its new electric cars its big debut in May. That date lasted indefinitely after the United States, like the rest of the world, was hit by the coronavirus outbreak. Despite the delay, the automaker continued to insist that the vehicle’s progression progressed as planned, and Tuesday’s announcement suggests this remains the case.

Alongside the announcement of Hummer’s upcoming debut, GMC has also released a new teaser video (above). The clip, which introduces James again, offers a glimpse of the vehicle more than ever. Although the van and SUV remain shrouded in shadows, you can obviously distinguish the profile of the two cars. As with the last look at the vehicle’s grid, this survey suggests that electric cars will have a striking resemblance to their gasoline-hungry ancestors, with some fashionable ornaments as a measure.

While the main points surrounding the new Hummer remain scarce, what we’ve heard is very exciting. Both versions will be built on General Motors’ third generation EV architecture and produce 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. Vehicles could also zoom in from 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds and run on large-format Ultium batteries that allow them to travel up to 400 miles on a bachelor charge.
