A new Tesla police car is “drawing attention” when it spotted drivers in Liverpool.
Residents spotted the new police car on Tuesday, October 11 while driving through Liverpool city centre and East Lancashire Road. The military Tesla Model Y, with reflective yellow packaging and the police logo, noticed drivers being arrested in the city.
Several other people took to social media to say they had seen the vehicle and commented on how “smart” it looked.

The Merseyside Police Highway Police unit explained how they had the Tesla “in a test”. A spokesman for Merseyside Police showed a test to assess the vehicle for other functions.
The message read: “Lately we have this cool-looking Tesla in testing. In fact, it has attracted attention so far. How many refills do you think we will want in a shift?”
CO Dave Lyons responded to the tweet, saying, “Rose Hill’s evaluators are slow. It would take 20 hours to qualify unchanged. I hope the OCC ones will be a little faster. “
Another responded, “You probably don’t want to rate the change, right before, and I can’t wait to see the video of a kid or a guy running around thinking they can run faster than you, my husband has a Tesla and we said we think the police deserve to have them. “
