Lewis Hamilton has expressed his gratitude after Mercedes met his brother Nicolas with a season in the simulator.
Lewis is the only active racing driving force in his family, as his brother Nicolas also competes in the British Touring Car Championship.
Due to cerebral palsy, Nicolas competes in a specially modified car, but thanks to Mercedes, this has not proved to be an impediment for Formula 1.
In fact, thanks to the modifications made to the seat, steering wheel and pedals, Nicolás was able to spend the day behind the wheel in the Mercedes simulator.
In a social media post, Lewis said: “Earlier this year, Nicolas Hamilton and I asked my team if we could do this day and here we are.
“Simulation time is incredibly tight and not available for anything like my brother. Traditional modifications to the seat, steering wheel and pedals were needed to make this possible.
“He spent the whole day there and is the first user with a to do so.
“He’s been a fighter and to see him have this day is an honor. The smile never left his face.
“I can’t wait to share more of this special day, thank you Mercedes for the time and effort invested in making this possible and making my brother’s dream come true. “
Mercedes has been key to Lewis’ life and career in motorsport and, over the years, since joining the factory team in 2013, that partnership has grown closer.
While on the way, the relationship between Lewis and Mercedes has been strengthened through the struggles of 2022, with Lewis leading the pace to get out of this crisis and keep the camp motivated, out of the way, the pair are also committed to making the Mercedes and Formula 1 team in general a more varied landscape.
Thus, by giving Nicolás, as a component of this conviction, the opportunity to show that his disability is an obstacle, Mercedes and Lewis have also demonstrated the strength of their relationship.
Lewis’ contract with Mercedes ends at the end of 2023, but if he continues in Formula 1 beyond that point, as he is believed to have, then it is fairly certain that he will remain with Mercedes for the rest of his driving days. in the series
