Lee Johnston excluded from 2024 Isle of Man TT

Lee Johnston will compete in the 2024 Isle of Man TT races due to injury, the Northern Irishman announced.

Johnston suffered a leg injury during a checkup in February and has since been dressed with a cage on his injured leg.

Johnston’s injury follows life-threatening injuries sustained in last year’s North West two hundred that kept him out of racing for the remainder of 2023, in addition to last year’s TT.

Johnston will return to the Isle of Man grid this year and with new machines, with a Honda in Superbike and Superstock, and a Triumph in Supersport.

Johnston was also forced to miss last week’s North West 200 programme, which he covered in a broadcast role for the BBC. At the TT, Johnston will head to the observation gallery with Radio TT.

Johnston said: “I’m really devastated to miss the TT for a second year. The last 12 months have certainly been the most challenging of my racing career, but the response from my team, my family and my enthusiasts has been incredible. “

“I’ve been racing with wonderful doctors and physiotherapists since the twist of fate and I’ve done everything I can to make sure my leg is strong enough to race in the TT, but it’s not. I move on to the TT because I need to win and everything has to be at its best to get on the podium and that includes fitness.

“It’s another blow for me and the team, but they’ve been fantastic and now I have time for 100 percent. “
