Lamborghini’s “X Telemetry” Gives Track Racing Enthusiasts a Digital Co-Driver

The whole goal (or, at least, much of the goal) of buying a supercar is to feel like a real racing driver. The sleek silhouette, deft handling, and, of course, the numbing force put you behind the controls of Cars that have only one big mission: to overtake as fast as possible (and make a little noise in doing so).

Well, since CES 2024 in Las Vegas, Lamborghini has been taking this boy racer theme one step further. It’s called Telemetry Hamilton.

Officially, the motorsport-derived virtual generation promises an “immersive on-track driving experience. “Specifically, it combines what’s known as a “real-time remote garage” with a formula of “biometrics” and a “virtual co. “-pilot. “

Remote Garage starts off with the almost-now-standard ability to record video of your on-track performance, complete with telemetry. However, thanks to the miracles of 5G, images and data can be monitored live by a coach anywhere in the world who can give some (probably much needed, if I know my supercar owners well) feedback and suggestions in real time. Yes, you could be hustling your STO around Laguna Seca, and the boys back in Sant’Agata Bolognese could be admonishing you to turn more quickly into the Corkscrew.

Biometric data, as the call suggests, captures how all this audacity affects your chassis. In words, by analyzing your center frequency and tension level, this same coach can also compare your performance.

Both systems, meanwhile, are powered by Digital Co-Pilot, the proactive voice assistant that compares biometric and vehicle data to give feedback to the driver while driving on the track. As an example, Lamborghini claims that Digital Co-Pilot can analyze laps. times and provides useful cues for racing lines and braking points, as well as information on how fast a given corner could enter compared to the last lap.

What’s more, when it receives Siri-like commands, it will provide you with secure functionality data, such as brake temperature, without you having to take your eyes off the road.

The latter case can bankrupt a lot of high-end body shops, considering, as I said, some of the shenanigans I’ve noticed in the days on supercar tracks.
