Lamborghini’s electric cars will have more than 1,300 horsepower and will still offer emotional driving sensations, says the brand’s boss

Lamborghini boss Stephen Winkelmann has revealed that the company’s long-lasting battery electric cars will not only offer normal levels of performance, but will also be designed to maximize their emotional appeal, just like the company’s electric cars.

The Italian marque will first venture into the world of EVs in 2028 with a production version of the Lanzador GT crossover and then expand into the world of electric supercars. During a recent interview with Autocar, Winkelmann noted the firm’s engineers are working on a wide variety of EVs and that while it’s important for them to be very powerful, they will also have plenty of substance.

“The numbers are vital,” he told the publication. In terms of power, we’re talking about at least one megawatt [1,341 hp]. That’s for sure. It is one of the pillars for measuring functionality in terms of all-electric vehicles. [But] far more vital than those facts and figures for Lamborghini is how you feel in the car. “

“The functionality is split in two,” Winkelmann continued. Part of it is acceleration, top speed, lap time and braking behavior, but that needs to translate into an emotional aspect and each and every visitor who drives a Lamborghini recognizes that there is that emotional component of a Lamborghini, and that has to translate into electric cars. “

Winkelmann went on to say that he was pushing the company’s engineers to expand electric cars that combine “repeated acceleration” with “top speed and range,” describing efforts to achieve all three as “almost ‘mission impossible. ‘”

There’s a long way to go before Lamborghini goes all-electric vehicles. The successor to the Huracán is just around the corner and we know that it will abandon the naturally aspirated V10 of the existing style in favor of a twin-turbo V8. complemented by a hybrid system, most likely to those of the Revuelto. A plug-in hybrid edition of the Urus is also in Lamborghini’s plans.
