After two exceptional wildcard appearances in 2023, the MotoGP™ World Championship continues to doubt whether Dani Pedrosa will compete in a Grand Prix in 2024 with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing.
At the Portuguese GP, motogp. com spoke to KTM Motorsports Director Pit Beirer about the option of seeing the three-time world champion compete in the Spanish GP. Pedrosa returned to his beloved Jerez in 2023 and achieved a phenomenal sixth position in the Tissot Sprint. which was then followed up with a P7 in the race and, judging by the sound, there’s a smart choice: we’ll see the designated #26 at the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto in 2024.

“I think so. Dani is already testing with us in Jerez this week. I feel like he’s preparing for it,” said Beirer, who explained that the final resolution is Pedrosa’s.
“It’s like we have a commitment, we’re never going to pressure him to make a race. The last call is from his side to say “I have to go”. But it still looks pretty strong and fast in testing this week, I think. I think he’s ready, he just wants to say yes and leave, we’re fit for him.
It’s a wonderful moment when we welcome riders of Pedrosa’s calibre to the MotoGP™ grid for wildcard appearances. This is especially the case when it comes to their home Grand Prix. And after Pedrosa’s ultra-stylish double functionality at last year’s San Marino GP, a podium challenge may not be ruled out if a wild card materialises.
As KTM hasn’t shown anything, we’ll have to keep our eyes peeled to see if Pedrosa will compete at Jerez.
