KRAFTON achieves record sales of KRW 1. 3729 T (GBP 788. 9 million) in the first part of 2024

AMSTERDAM – KRAFTON Inc. (CEO CH Kim, KRX: 259960) held an investor relations (IR) informational conference call and announced its effects for the first part and second quarter of 2024.

According to consolidated monetary statements in accordance with Korea International Financial Reporting Standards (K-IFRS), KRAFTON reported cumulative sales of KRW 1. 3729 trillion (£788. 9 million) and operating profit of 642Array6 billion of KRW (£369. 2 million) for the first part of 2024. Sales and operating profits were the highest in history for a partial year, with increases of 48. 3% and 55. 0%, respectively . % in one year. Second quarter sales were 707 billion KRW (£406. 2 million), setting a new quarterly sales record after the first quarter, and operating profit was 332. 1 billion KRW (£190. 8 million). These figures constitute year-on-year increases of 82. 7% and 152. 6%, respectively.

KRAFTON has maintained strong expansion across the board, adding sales and traffic, through live installations leveraging PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS (hereinafter referred to as PUBG). Additionally, KRAFTON has improved the quality of progression for major new titles such as Dark and Darker. Mobile and inZOI, with a total of 11 investments in game studios in the first part of the year alone to detect new IPs.

Main achievements in the first part of 2024

PUBG has garnered positive responses from users around the world through content such as map updates and collaborations, leading to increased traffic and sales power compared to the same time last year.

For the PC/console versions, traffic continued to increase mainly thanks to the Erangel Classic map service and the collaboration of NewJeans. Monthly active users (MAU) increased 40% year over year and paid users doubled. In the second part of the year, KRAFTON plans to boost its expansion with in-game updates, adding the collaboration of Lamborghini.

On the cellular platform, “PUBG Mobile” and “Battlegrounds Mobile India (hereinafter referred to as BGMI)” have consistently garnered positive feedback on localized content and shown visual expansion driven by monetization models. “PUBG Mobile” particularly contributed to the traffic and sales of the collaboration with a popular player in the Middle East and the arrival of progressive clothing skins. BGMI also attracts new users with UC bonus in demanding situations and collaboration with a popular local cricket team.

Introduction of new main name ranges

KRAFTON is preparing two titles, Dark and Darker Mobile and inZOI, scheduled for release this year. Both titles will be presented at Gamescom Germany at the end of the month to gauge reactions from Western audiences. Dark and Darker Mobile recently conducted a global test and based on the effects of that test, the game will be further improved for a comfortable launch in Canada in October, with a global launch scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year. inZOI is focusing on progression with the goal of early access this year, while also targeting a long-standing intellectual property in the life simulation genre, which has already proven popular in the Western market.

KRAFTON is quick to invest in stocks and discover new intellectual homes to diversify platforms and genres. As of 2021, the company has invested in 27 companies, adding 14 in North America and 8 in Europe, and has also expanded the acquired game genres to include shooters, RPGs, and simulation. Additionally, in August, KRAFTON acquired the progression team from a Japanese game developer, Tango Gameworks.

Key startups in India and AI

Drawing on the experience and knowledge accumulated in India through BGMI, KRAFTON carries out large-scale local publishing activities. The company is expanding its interactions with local users through marketing activities and esports operations tailored to local languages and cultures.

KRAFTON also continues to explore new gameplay reports on its R capabilities.

KRAFTON’s medium- and long-term orientation

KRAFTON plans to identify original games and IPs and create a service that grows through continuous improvements and content updates. The company plans to expand PUBG IP’s franchise business and identify high-potential intellectual homes through a variety of methods, adding development internally, minority investments, and mergers and acquisitions.
