As a component of an ongoing pilot project, . KODA AUTO is testing a biodegradable film for the packaging of vehicle factors sent to the Indian plant in Pune. The film protects portions as well as a traditional plastic film. However, there is one key difference: after use, it can be composted. Three to six months later, the film contributes to the floor of Pune’s logistics park. Employees of CKD middle at the main plant of . KODA AUTO put this packaging concept into force, saving around 500 kg of traditional plastic film each month.
David Strnad, Head of Brand Logistics at ‘KODA AUTO’, said: ‘At’ KODA AUTO ‘, we use a holistic technique to frequently improve our environmental footprint. To do this, we consistently inspire our workers to expand and put forward thinking concepts. Compostable packaging for our component deliveries in India is a concrete example. Together with our colleagues at the Pune site, lately we are testing the use of a cornstarch film well. This has allowed us to halve the amount of traditional packaged plastic used in the portions delivered to them offering the same point of protection. In order to decrease the amount of plastic film needed to pack factors for shipment to Pune, the KODA’s logistics arm was looking for biodegradable alternatives in particular.
A compostable film was then checked at the CKD center in Mlad-Boleslav, then several shipment samples were reviewed to see if they met the strict container shipping needs and, in fact, quality control upon shipment arrival in Pune showed that the parts showed no symptoms of damage or signs of corrosion. To assess whether packaging can be converted into fertilizer as planned, logistics staff built composters on site using recycled materials. In addition to the film, the composters were also filled with Six Months Later, the film had been largely decomposed biologically. KODA AUTO is now testing the ability of cutting-edge film for daily use on a larger scale. In July 2020 a pilot assignment was launched for this purpose, which was first, until June 2021.
Composted packaging is then used in Pune as biological fertilizer for trees in the logistics park, among others. Since March 2019, workers and visitors to the logistics branch have planted a tree in front of the factory gates, transforming an old moor into a park.
