NEW YORK (AP) – The KIA AMERICA automobile manufacturer recalls more than 80,000 cars due to the ground wiring under the front passenger seat that can be broken and saved airbags and implementation protection belts correctly.
Damaged wiring can also cause an unintended side curtain air bag deployment, according to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The recall covers 80,255 2023-2025 Niro EV, Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and Hybrid vehicles.
In this situation, distributors will inspect, update, and reroute ground wiring free of charge, if necessary. In addition, distributors will install cable covers. The owners will be informed through the mail sent in March.
The recall follows one in November, when Hyundai and Kia recalled more than 208,000 electric cars to repair a transistor in a charging unit that could break and prevent charging the 12-volt battery. This, in turn, can lead to a loss of driving power, increasing the risk of an accident.
