KIA has presented a plug-in hybrid edition of its flagship SUV, the Sorento.

The new variant of the Korean automaker combines a turbocharged gasoline engine with a high-capacity battery and a high-efficiency electric motor, allowing drivers to make shorter trips with all-electric, emission-free power.

The Sorento’s plug-in hybrid variant was designed from the start to fit electrified propulsion systems and maintains the cab and luggage area, as well as five- and seven-seater designs that describe other models in the range.

In the first part of 2020, electrified models, which add soft hybrids, hybrids, battery electrics and plug-in hybrids, accounted for approximately one in 4 Kia cars sold in Europe, and sales accelerated year after year.

Sales of the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid will begin in some European markets in early 2021, with the exclusive seven-year, 100,000-mile Kia Series warranty. The UK directory date, costs and specifications will be announced in due course.

The Sorento Plug-in Hybrid is only the least transmitter style of Sorento diversity in Europe, but also the ultimate powerful: its 1. 6-litre turbocharged electric petrol engine produces a combined torque of 265 hp and 350 Nm.

The all-electric range of Sorento’s plug-in hybrid will be enough to allow drivers to minimize only electric power, Kia says.

Its all-electric diversity and CO2 emissions are pending approval and will be displayed through Kia closer to the car’s sales date. Power is transmitted to all 4 wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.

The new style represents Kia’s first use of a separate battery water cooling formula in a PHEV, ensuring optimal heat control and optimal maximum voltage battery power.

It also offers one of the largest charging capacities in its class, with the largest battery pack occupying a large area in the trunk, up to 809 liters (for seven-seater models) or 898 liters (for five-seater models) with two rows. seats in place.

In the seven-seater models, with the seven seats placed, the volume of the trunk is liters (compared to 179 liters of its hybrid counterpart).

Inside the car, the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid offers the same point of technological innovation as other Sorento models: the touchscreen infotainment formula for seamless and complete smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

A rugged 12-speaker BOSE surround audio formula is also available, as well as an ambient formula in the cab, with up to 64 colors for users to choose from.
