More and more car brands are offering deep discounts on electric vehicle models. Kia and Genesis are two of the newest to slash EV costs with generous deals. The Kia EV9 and several Genesis electric cars are now discounted by up to $7,500 thanks to new rebate offers.
Genesis is being developed in the U. S. , surpassing the ultimate luxury logos with sleek all-electric vehicles. The logo introduced its first electric vehicle in the U. S. It opened the U. S. EV60 in May 2022, and sales have skyrocketed ever since.
Since then, the logo has added the electrified GV70 SUV and G80 sedan to its EV lineup. As one of the first automakers to dedicate itself to an all-electric future, Genesis is already seeing the results.
According to Cox Automotive, Genesis sold 6,403 electric cars in the U. S. It was the U. S. company last year, posting a 283% expansion over 2022, more than Lexus and Lucid.
On the other hand, Kia will revamp its sales with a new design and branding. The automaker brought its first three-row electric SUV, the EV9, which landed in the U. S. late last year.
With a starting price of less than $55,000 (not including destination), Kia sees the EV9’s initial value as a “red flag” for the industry. The EV9 is already experiencing demand, with over 4000 units sold in the first 3 months of 2024.
While Kia expects the EV9 to qualify for the $7,500 federal EV tax credit, it may not be until next year.
Kia will ship the EV9 from Korea until production begins (scheduled for next month) at its West Point, Georgia, plant.
Until then, Kia is offering a $7,500 rebate on EV9 purchases to target the field. With that, the 2024 Kia EV9 can be purchased for as little as $48,895, adding up the destination.
Kia is the only one that offers deep discounts. Genesis is cutting EV costs with a $7,500 rebate.
The 2024 Genesis GV60 and GV70 Electrified are now eligible for $7,500 in retail bonuses. And it’s for a purchase, not a rental. According to online automotive research from the company CarsDirect, this is the biggest incentive for those models to date.
With the discount, the value of the cheapest GV60 starts at just $45,850 (including destination), while the GV70 Electrified starts at $60,300.
While the 2024 G80 Electrified is eligible, Genesis has added a new entry-level advanced version with costs starting at $5,380 less than last year.
The price cuts come as many automakers, including BMW, Tesla, Hyundai, Ford, and several others, are doing the same.
