Kia aims to increase sales through a breakthrough in generation and design. To ease its transition, Kia is bringing in former Mercedes-Benz and BMW designers.
Kia announced on Tuesday that it has lead designers Oliver Samson and Seungmo Lim to lead its design centers for Europe and China.
The measure goes into effect on April 1. With extensive experience working with some of the biggest car brands, including Mercedes-Benz and BMW, Kia is targeting its design team as part of its transition to electric vehicles.
Samson and Lin will lead their teams to expand Kia’s next generation of designs, concepts, fabrics and models. His paintings will constitute Kia’s main design center in Korea, where designs move from blueprints to concepts.
After his career at Hyundai and Kia’s European Design Centre, Oliver Samson now returns to the brand. Samson has spent more than a decade in the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design team, most recently in roles at NIO and Changan.
Lim comes with more than a decade of experience as a member of BMW’s design team in Munich. Most recently, as vice president of innovative design at Geely (Volvo, Polestar’s parent company), Lim will transition the brand to electric cars in China.

You can see the brand’s new “United Opposites” design theme on the new all-electric EV6 and EV9. Kia also plans to launch a number of budget electric vehicles, with the EV3 later this year, with an expected cost of around $30,000. The EV4 will remain at around $35,000 next year as Kia looks to bolster its presence as the market shifts to electric.
The new EVs are part of Kia’s wide range of EVs, which range in price from $30,000 to $80,000.
Kia’s first three-row SUV, the EV9, is a success with more than 2,700 models sold in the U. S. in the first two months of the year.
The EV9 starts at $54,900, but the high-performance GT lineup will set you back more than $74,000. With more second-row legroom than the Cadillac Escalade and more headroom than the Tesla Model X, the Kia EV9 offers plenty of interior space.
Meanwhile, Kia is offering a hefty $5,000 visitor count on the 2024 EV9 models. If you’re considering Kia’s three-row all-electric SUV, we can get started. You can use our link to find unbeatable deals on the 2024 Kia. EV9 at a dealership near you.
