Key points of the new ebook The first cars and drivers of Indy 500

David Story is an inspiration for the search for your passions, no matter how long it takes.

After setting aside a love of years of training for Indy 500 and later, his artistic ability graduated, in favor of starting and running a successful 25-year housebuilding business, Story returned to those interests when he retired. He discovered an outlet for both with his first book, “The First 30 Years of the Indianapolis 500,” with his illustrations and writings on the formative history of this iconic race.

The 70-page, 12″x9″ format presents the intensity of its genuine illustrations, while the accompanying text provides a new insight into the colorful personalities and genuine risks involved in the Indianapolis motorsport scene. The story also includes main points on many prominent Indian traditions, adding the milk-drinking winner on Victory Lane, and how they appeared. (For his information, Louis Meyer was the first to swallow milk after his time in Indy’s 1933 victory.)

The story credits Mark Dill and his first Super Speedway for rekindleing his interest in the 500.

“After finding the page online many years ago, I started a verbal exchange with Mark,” Story said. “From the thread to the needle, I started archiving sketches for the site. When I started reading the book, Mark submitted to review it and recommend corrections. Looking for this wonderful race and its history, I was surprised by the amount of incorrect information that exists Mark kept me right and faithful.
