Jaguar Land Rover to hire 250 engineers to advertise vehicles

Luxury automaker JLR is hiring 250 new engineers to make electric cars at two of its plants.

Engineers will be based in Gaydon and Whitley, West Midlands, and will work on new models to be introduced until 2030.

JLR said 40 of the new workers will be battery engineers who will be responsible for the design and storage of mobile batteries. Thomas Mueller, JLR’s executive director of product engineering, said the new ones will play a critical role in moving the company forward.

He said: “As we continue to invest in our facilities, we now need other very talented people to help us expand the advancements in propulsion generation that will underpin our next generation of modern luxury vehicles. “

Freddy Gunnarsson, JLR’s director of airframe design, said: “We are stepping up our work, turning the most advanced science into battery propulsion systems that provide our consumers with the exclusive driving and charging reports expected from trendy luxury vehicles. This is an exciting opportunity for battery chemistry experts to help outline the next generation of electric propulsion systems.
