Jaguar Land Rover India said on Wednesday that its retail sales rose 31% year-on-year to 1,371 during the first quarter ended June 30, 2024.
The automaker had 1,048 sets in the April-June quarter of the last fiscal year.
Sales of the Defender and Range Rover Evoque rose by more than 50 percent, with the Defender being the best-selling style in its portfolio, Tata Motors said in a statement.
The Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Defender account for 75 per cent of the total order book, he added.
“Our functionality is in line with our expectations. In addition to our strong physical sales, our order bank was also up 10% compared to the start of the year, showing that we need continued expansion as we continue to bring our materials to market. “” said Rajan Amba, Managing Director of JLR India.
The Defender remains the most sought-after model and, with the usual reaction from locally built Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, the company remains confident in its ability to maintain this momentum and achieve another successful year, he added.
The Indian market is responding to our interesting product line,” said Amba.
