The Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Criminal Investigation Division has unveiled the first main points of its investigation into the shooting of Jacob Blake, an incident that has fueled protests and riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin, opposed to police brutality.
Officer Rusten Sheskey, a seven-year veteran of the Kenosha Police Department, known as the officer who shot Blake, a black man, while his children were looking in his car.
The officers were sent to the scene in reaction to a caller who reported that her boyfriend provided and was not expected to be on the property, according to investigators; Lawyers in Blake’s family circle said it “ends a fight between two women.”
Court records display that Blake charged with 3rd degree sexual assault, crook trespass and disorderly domestic violence conduct on July 6.
Investigators say police tried to arrest Blake with a Taser pistol, without success.
When Blake missed his car, opened the driver’s door and leaned forward, Sheskey grabbed Blake’s blouse and shot him seven times in the back, according to investigators.
Blake admitted that the course of the investigation had a knife, which was discovered on the driver’s side floor, but no other weapons were discovered in the car.
Blake’s circle of relatives has called for nonviolent protests and said Blake cares deeply about his circle of family members and children.
Blake’s shooting, which left him paralyzed under his waist, sparked three nights of protests and riots in Kenosha, as activists say it’s another example of police brutality opposed to a black man.arrived in Kenosha to protect the companies from vandalism accused of murder in a shootout that left two other people dead and injured.
Once the Wisconsin Department of Justice completes its investigation, it will deliver its findings to a prosecutor, who will then evaluate Sheskey and other officials at the scene.
