Infiniti QX60 monograph looks ready to go on the road

Sometimes concept cars are wild and futuristic plugs, designed to show the outer limits of what is technically imaginable in the automotive world; Other times, however, the concepts give us a transparent view of a standard car to come. the last one.

Debuting Thursday, the QX60 Monograph concept obviously showcases Infiniti’s next-generation QX60 crossover, scheduled for 2021. The company offers nothing in terms of mechanical main points or powertrain at this time, this concept does not even have an interior, strangely, and uses the monograph to show the external design of the new QX60.

First impressions? This looks good, if it drifts. The link to Infiniti’s smaller SUV, the QX50, is clear without delay. The three-quarter front view is where the maximum QX60 monograph has a swollen appearance of the QX50. This is not necessarily bad, since the QX50 is quite attractive. But for this reason, nothing in the monograph speaks of a forward-looking design. It’s just a concept, but it already looks like a year or two.

From the profile, the short front cantilever and sloping roof line trim a shape reminiscent of the Land Rover Range Rover Velar; again, that’s not a bad thing. On the back, the full-width LED rear easels have a segmented soft signature and there is a giant “Infiniti” text on the sedán. The license plate is housed on the bumper for a blank appearance.

Light segments are what Infiniti calls the virtual piano key, and this design also highlights bureaucracy in thin headlights. Infiniti says that the logo on the grid lighting fixtures rises (of course) when the driving force approaches the QX60 and then the headlight accessories are displayed on the LED above. Another interesting detail is what Infiniti calls the “kimono fold pattern” on the panoramic ceiling. It’s not about how the roof works; Infiniti says that “this geometric feature [is] a series of complex perpendicular lines”. You can see it in the aerial perspectives of the QX60 in the attached gallery.

In general, the monograph has a much more determined and assertive position than the existing model, which is quite flaccid. The design of the concept is much more of an SUV than a crossover, whatever the difference between those terms in those days. because it’s not too far away, it means the production QX60 deserves to get on the road with only minimal changes. We’ll know for sure when the new SUV will debut next year.
