Infiniti is nevertheless in a position to add a well-deserved touch of excitement to its range.

The Japanese luxury lopass has unveiled the first genuine glimpse of its electric future in the form of the new Vision Qe concept. The sleek sedan was unveiled Tuesday on a special occasion ahead of the Japan Mobility Show and may go into production as soon as 2025.

Infiniti has shown that its first electric vehicle will be a four-door car, unlike the midsize SUVs preferred by many of its peers. We know sedans that good-looking, but the Vision Qe is different. The design of the concept is more unique than anything discovered in Infiniti’s existing lineup and has the potential to replace the way the logo is perceived in Japan and abroad.

The ambitious look of the car was encouraged through 3 other Japanese philosophies and is meant to show a sense of the ordinary (or “Kabuku”), radiate speed and dynamism (“Sho”), and convey sophistication (“Sui”). Those elements are reflected in the new front trim, which features an eye-catching LED lighting package that accentuates its heavily sculpted shape. The front finish may possibly look a bit like a plow to some, however, it’s hard to believe anyone has any issues with the rest of the vehicle’s sleek shape and fastback-style roofline. The Vision Qe manages to look muscular and elegant, which is only highlighted through its Shadow Blue metallic paint and gold trim. The set is completed by a set of golden giants. Geometrically tended wheels driven through the tight coil of an electric motor.

Infiniti wasn’t able to preview the exterior of the Vision Qe until Tuesday. The automaker has not shared photographs of the vehicle’s interior. We also don’t know anything about its powertrain, it wouldn’t be unexpected for it to stock at least some of the hardware with parent company Nissan’s upcoming electric Maxima, according to Car and Driver. This vehicle will be built on the auto giant’s CMF-EV platform, which will form the basis of most, if not all, of its electric cars through 2030.

Infiniti’s first electric vehicle will be a sedan, but it remains to be seen how much it will resemble the Vision Qe. Motor Trend reports that the production style possibly won’t be much different from the prototype, something we can endorse. We may not have to wait long to find out, as the battery-powered car is expected to go into production in the next two to three years.
