Industry Insider: Pierer/KTM stakes in MV Agusta up to 50. 1%

Remember when Pierer bought a 25. 1% stake in MV Agusta. . . and that in May 2023, Pierer Mobility/KTM was seeking a higher percentage of MV Agusta than the 25. 1% acquired?

Well, we thought KTM’s parent company wouldn’t double its stake in Agusta until spring 2026, but it looks like both sides are in favor of a rushed order; heck, even the press release says the acquisition is being “exercised prematurely” (according to Pierer’s press release).

What does this mean for Pierer and MV Agusta? In other words, Pierer/KTM now owns a majority stake in MV Agusta.

According to the statement, “KTM is assuming commercial leadership,” and an expansion and capacity increase is expected to produce 10,000 “high-end motorcycles” for MV Agusta this year.

Timur Sardarov, former CEO of MV Agusta, has been reassigned to the position of Vice President, Brand Ambassador and Consultant.

This leaves his old name open for Hubert Trunkenpolz to earn the CEO name.

Here are some of Sardarov’s words about the actions:

It’s an honor to be part of MV Agusta’s legacy. Over the past five years, the company and I have evolved considerably. Our joint expansion is a testament to the transformative adventure we have shared.

All in all, it seems that MV’s Lucky Explorer doesn’t stand a chance, and the celebrations of monetary good fortune will continue for the foreseeable future.

What do you think of Pierer/KTM’s decision to acquire more MV Agusta?
