Indian Motorcycle joins the International Women’s Hiking Day Movement to celebrate and empower more people by driving

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – August 20, 2020 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – Indian Motorcycle, the first motorcycle company in the U.S., has partnered with the International Female Ride Day® (IFRD), a world day of synchronized driving that celebrates motorcyclists and their fondness for driving. IfRD will take place on Saturday, August 22 on six continents in more than 120 countries.

IFRD and the “Just Ride!” program The Call to Action created in 2007 to concentrate on female motorcyclists. Since then, women from all over the world have joined the motion to celebrate and welcome the growing number of female cyclists.

“I started IFRD to raise awareness among female motorcyclists and motivate women around the world. Working with Indian Motorcycle encourages more women to sign up for the birthday component of driving and be part of the movement,” said IFRD founder Vicki Gray. “In fact, it is a delight like no other: stimulating, liberating and satisfying. The women’s equestrian network is a network of camaraderie that expands on the road.”

“Walk!” is the only requirement to participate in IFRD. Motorcyclists from all over the world can celebrate the day by simply going for a solo ride, traveling as a passenger or traveling with friends and family. Motorcyclists are also encouraged to sign up for Indian Motorcycle and its network of motorcyclists and ambassadors from around the world by digitally celebrating and sharing images on social media with the #IFRD and #InternationalFemaleRideDay hashtags.

“It’s encouraging to see more and more motorcyclists around the world doing motorcycles as a hobby and joining the Indian Motorcycle brand,” said Pam Kermisch, director of growth and customer engagement. “IFRD is a motion in its unique ability to unite the cause of women and, more importantly, women’s empowerment globally, and this is something we are very proud to be a component of.”

No matter how and where you drive, Indian Motorcycle and IFRD inspire driving practices. Use appropriate equipment, conduct vehicle reviews before travel, and comply with local and CDC social distance rules to protect yourself from coVID-19 spread. Visit IFRD’s online page to be more informed, adding tactics to participate, helpful tips for preparing your walk, and photographic inspirations from past years.
