Harris DAF has opened a purpose-built workshop in Grays, Essex. The five-bay workshop and ATF service centre joins the dealer group’s locations in High Wycombe, Lea Valley and Witham and VMU facilities in Slough and Harlow. Over the next year the company will employ 15 technicians and five DAF apprentices to work at the new site.
Conveniently next to their existing Thurrock MOT facility, the 900-square-meter workshop sits on a two-acre lot. If demand exceeds existing capacity, there is a building permit to expand the workshop to supply an area for ten bays. The Grays center will operate 24 hours a day and weekends will be limited to daylight hours. In the evening, the BM curling brake meter will carry out fifty vehicle tests, of which it will exceed one hundred at full capacity.
Managing Director, Gary Carpenter, said: “We are excited about the prospects our new workshop offers operators. Customer demand for a superior service point is increasing and we expect to be very busy in the future. The new workshop provides employment opportunities for apprentice CFOs and, more broadly, technicians.
