U. S. Customs and Border Patrol seize all types of illegal goods entering the U. S. , imported through smugglers, not just drugs. But this caught the eye.
U. S. customs officials at the Port of Los Angeles-Long Beach reported the seizure of about 2,300 children’s toys, convertible tables, walkers and even balance chairs intended for children with autism.
U. S. Customs reported on Monday, April 29:
(customs officials) “They seized 96 walkers, 216 balance chairs for autistics, 492 convertible tables, 196 infant and child ladders, and 1,296 toys with alphabet mystery boxes for failing to comply with U. S. child protection standards. “U. S. The estimated national value of the 2,296 seized products is $79,696.
Not all products contained protective and quality labels and stickers, had poor build quality, and more:
“The autism balance chairs violated the Consumer Product Safety Act. The conversion tables were found to violate conversion product protection standards, customer registration, children’s product certificate, and tracking label requirements. “
It is very shocking that the products in this shipment intended to lie or lie to adults of parents who may have just purchased one for their autistic child. The pieces were discovered hidden in boxes that arrived in the U. S. In January and February, they were only recently tested due to port delays.
The suspicious packaging of the original boxes and other telltale symptoms prompted customs officials to separate them for further inspection. They had arrived with a valid shipment from China, according to U. S. Customs.
