A battered Skoda sold to a scrap dealer for £15 has now been recovered by thousands more after a fierce bidding war.
The red Super Estelle 105S has covered just 25,419 miles since it set sail in 1981 and sold for £3,600.
The logo used to be the butt of jokes such as: “Why do you install a heater in the rear window of a Skoda? To stop the hands when pressed. “
Another says: “How can you double the size of a Skoda?”Fill it with gas.
But since then, Skoda cars have gained a reputation for reliability and reasonable powertrains.
The first owner of this style lived in Yorkshire and kept it for 17 years until he was told he had to weld it to pass the technical inspection.
He sold it to a local scrapyard for £15, drove it there and noted the mileage was 25,259.
Anglia Car Auctions said: “Shortly afterwards, the scrapyard sold the car for £75 to Mr and Mrs Nutter, who took it upon themselves to salvage and repair the Skoda. “
“The paints included the installation of new fenders, bottom panels, and a full painting job on the original before storing the car in a heated garage with car access.
“The car has led an adorable life ever since and has passed the normal technical inspection; Only 161 miles have been traveled since its restoration. “
This rear-engined vehicle has a top speed of 130 kilometers per hour and is made in Czechoslovakia.
His CT scan ends in March of the year.
It was sold after five minutes of bidding in King’s Lynn, Norfolk.
Today’s Skodas are very different, with the logo recently unveiling its new Octavia, which is expected to be one of the most technologically complex models after the Czech company announced that it would ship with ChatGPT.
The logo also unveiled its next entry-level electric vehicle, which is expected to debut soon to compete with two main competitors.
