‘I pay more than that for a trip to the shops’ cry locals as shopping centre car park goes up for sale for £1

YOU can now own a shopping centre car park for just a pound thanks to a bizarre new auction.

It’s a bit out of the way, but you can pick it up for less than an hour’s worth of parking in most cities.

Two car parks are now on sale in the business park serving the quiet Welsh village of Tonteg near Cardiff.

Aerial photographs show the two asphalted spaces with capacity for about thirty engines, adjacent to the advertising space.

They are being auctioned by Steel & Co, with the freehold on offer, meaning buyers would own the land itself.

The park sits at the end of a busy residential road with a supermarket, a hairdressers and a fish and chip shop.

Incredibly, there is no reserve value in the sale, with a minimum bid of £1 to buy it.

Local customer Val Lewis, 58, is surprised at how reasonable the Array offer is

She said: “I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the car park was up for sale.

“I can pay £5 or £6 if I stop shopping in Cardiff, so it would be amazing to buy a whole park for a pound. “

However, those who keep it in its current form are unlikely to make significant profits despite the reduced price.

Parking is free on-site, so it wouldn’t be a source of income for the next owner.

However, the auction insists that it “can be conducive to development” as long as the proper building permit is obtained.

The auction will take place at midday on February 5.

It comes after car enthusiasts got a glimpse of the Malaysian king’s collection of three hundred cars, adding an exclusive engine gifted to his family through Adolf Hitler.

Meanwhile, a driving expert has suggested Brits buy an “iconic” Land Rover style for just £4,000.
