Hyundai to launch new IONIQ five XRT rugged off-road model in the U. S. U. S.

Hyundai unveiled the new IONIQ five update earlier this month, which includes several design improvements, a larger battery (with more range), and an additional rear windshield wiper.

In Korea, Hyundai has added around 7 kWh of battery to the new IONIQ 5, bringing the total to 84 kWh. The adjustments bring electric vehicles to 485 km (301 miles), up from 458 km (285 miles) previously.

Inside, the IONIQ five has gained additional USB-C ports and various buttons and functions have been moved for added convenience. One of the most significant innovations is the addition of Hyundai’s connected car navigation cockpit, which adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto.

Hyundai has yet to launch the new IONIQ five in the U. S. It has remained roughly the same in Korea, around five KRW 2,400,000 ($39,400).

The IONIQ five 2024 starts at $41,800 in the U. S. , however, Hyundai has brought incentives, adding a $7,500 EV lease bonus and occasional 0% APR financing.

Hyundai also announced Tuesday that its first electric vehicle with N-branded functionality, the IONIQ five N, will start at $66,100 (not including destination).

We are now informed that Hyundai is making plans to launch a robust variant of the XRT in North America. According to a report by TheKoreanCarBlog, it was recently discovered that a new prototype was being tested.

The models were completely camouflaged, but you might still see a redesigned rear bumper and new parking sensors up front. The front bumper also looks different than the existing or updated IONIQ 5.

The prototype was seen being tested near the Hyundai/Kia Technical Center. While Hyundai hasn’t shown it yet, the IONIQ five XRT will most likely feature additional improvements in power and range.

The report suggests that the rugged EV will most likely not launch in Korea until this summer. However, the European and American models could not debut until the end of 2024.
