(RTTNews) – Hyundai Motor has unveiled a new IONIQ logo committed to battery electric vehicles, as the automaker accelerates its efforts to gain a percentage in the global fast-growing electric vehicle market.
Under the IONIQ brand, Hyundai plans to introduce 3 new models of committed vehicles over the next 4 years. Hyundai is South Korea’s largest automaker.
Hyundai recently announced plans to sell one million battery electric car games and get 10% of the electric vehicle market by 2025.
As a component of the company’s “Strategy 2025”, Hyundai aims to be the world’s third largest manufacturer of eco-friendly cars through 2025, with 560,000 sales of BEV in addition to FCEV sales.
Hyundai will launch a variety of electric cars with digital names under the new brand, similar to the alphanumeric names used through major rivals such as BMW and Volkswagen for their models. Hyundai will use numbers for its SUVs and even sedan numbers.
The first style to be presented under the IONIQ logo will be the Ioniq five or CUV intermediate crossover application vehicle in early 2021. The Ioniq five is based on Hyundai’s EV ‘4five’ concept presented at the 2019 Frankfurt International Auto Show.
Hyundai will introduce the Ioniq 6 sedan in 2022, which is in its newest EV concept ‘Prophecy’ unveiled in March. This will be followed by the launch of a giant SUV, the Ioniq 7, in early 2024.
Models with the IONIQ logo will be installed on the most sensitive of the global modular power platform, known as E-GMP, which will allow for immediate charging capacity and a long battery life.
Last November, U.S. automaker Ford unveiled its all-electric “SuV” which will hit the market in late 2020. The vehicle has an EPA-estimated target diversity of at least three hundred miles.
