The Hyundai Ioniq five N promises to be an attractive new entry into the rapidly evolving electric car segment with non-luxury features. On Wednesday morning, the Korean automaker unveiled a sneak peek at an even tougher version: the NPX1. It looks like we’ll see parts of OEM functionality for the Ioniq five N’s very soon, or a higher variant, or both.
We didn’t bother talking about trailers, but despite the dark and dramatic lighting, this quick video shows off some cool frame parts on an Ioniq five N. I’m not entirely sure if the NPX1 will be a super launch sports edition. of the Ioniq N, or if it’s just a concept call that will appear to provide a catalog of upgrade parts. Either way, keep in mind that we’re interested.
The Ioniq N is out the door with mind-blowing performance. It was spotted at the Nürburgring, with over six hundred horsepower and a 0-60 mph time of less than 3. 5 seconds. I don’t know how much faster you want to be a car, still, there are changes to be made, and anyway, there’s nothing wrong with driving a big wing for fun.
As for the main points of the NPX1, it looks like competitive bodywork on the front and rear aprons, some sort of fender vent, and of course the spoiler protruding from the top. I have to say that the Ioniq five is rarely very much a Hot Hatch, although it does look like one without the context of the smaller cars parked nearby.
One other aspect of the YouTube upload I noticed is the tag “#NPerformanceParts.” That has me optimistic about the idea of Hyundai doing some kind of factory-available upgrade program for its electric N performance cars, which would be cool. There’s no doubt that electric cars are capable of incredible speeds, but we still haven’t seen a wealth of ways to personalize EVs. I’m excited for anything that looks remotely like an EV modding opportunity.
Hyundai says more main points will be revealed on January 12 at the 2024 Tokyo Motor Show. Then we’ll get into more main points.
