Hyundai Inster: Casper’s economy electric car gets a name

A South Korean economy vehicle (EV) destined for a developing Chinese competition organization will be known as the 2025 Hyundai Inster and is expected to arrive in Australia.

The Inster is in Korea’s exclusive Hyundai Casper petrol sedan introduced 3 years ago and promises up to 355km of diversity in European WLTP testing.

This has yet to be demonstrated for Australia, however, Drive has already announced that the electric vehicle is expected to arrive later this year or early next year, as Hyundai has been seen testing examples in disguise.

The price has yet to be announced, but foreign reports range from €20,000 to €25,000 ($32,500 to AU$41,000) in Europe, which would be competitive with competition from BYD and GWM.

The Inster is a tiny car, smaller than a Toyota Yaris or a Volkswagen Polo, than the BYD Dolphin, which is closer to a Toyota Corolla or a VW Golf.

Hyundai says the name Inster is derived from the words “intimate” and “innovative” — the social media platform Instagram.

A teaser symbol, released ahead of the full Inster unveiling in late June, shows that the electric city vehicle will sport “pixel graphics” powered by Hyundai’s Ioniq variety of electric vehicles.

It is an “evolution” of the Casper sold in South Korea, the only market where the Inster will be marketed under the Casper Electric name.

The electric vehicle has similar styling features to the Casper; The spy images imply that it has a longer frame, with a longer distance between the front and rear wheels, to create more space for passengers and cargo.

The Hyundai Casper is the same length as a Kia Picanto, at about 3. 6 meters long, which is about 40 cm shorter from nose to tail than a Volkswagen Polo and 70 cm shorter than a BYD Dolphin.

No specifications beyond a maximum of 355km were announced in the European WLTP tests.

“The Inster will set new standards in terms of range, generation and protective features, redefining what buyers can expect from a vehicle in this class,” Hyundai said in a statement to the media.

Inster’s competition in Europe will come with the Dacia Spring, a vehicle priced at around €23,000 (AU€37,500) with a range of 220km, and the Fiat 500e, which costs from €29,490 (AU€48,000) in Germany before the cuts. . .

More details about the 2025 Hyundai Inster will be revealed in its full unveiling at the Busan Motor Show in South Korea “at the end of June. “
